Creative Arts Therapies (CAT) can help clients to explore feelings, improve self-awareness and reduce anxiety. Creative processes can support clients to explore issues that can often be hard to put into words, and to find new pathways to healing. A CAT session is different to an art class. By harnessing imagination and a sense of play, clients are supported to 'try on' and practise new behaviours. CAT can support resilience by fostering a sense of agency and self-understanding, and through symbolic expression. This can give clients new perspectives on themselves and their world view which can be helpful for recovery.
